Botey's Quartet

desengaño / mi desconsuelo

SG Promo Interdisc ES 1972

pop soul beat. From the promo insert:

Luis Arribas Castro - Luarca

con esperanza / amor desesperado

SG Sonoplay ES 1968

weird mixture of bossa nova, flamenco & spoken word. 'Con Esperanza' certainly has some appealing for those looking for new sounds. Luis Arribas Castro (Luarca) was a quite famous radio speaker & journalist in Barcelona. He helped to build the 60s music scene there and wrote some extraordinaire lyrics for such groups as Los Salvajes or Don y Su Banda

We Are Digging the Beatles

LP Diabolo ES 1972

rare spanish record with prog/jazz musicians of the 60s and 70s catalan scene. Along with Lucy Guri (keys - Barcelona Traction) and Peter Roar (sax - Maquina), we find Carles Benavent (bass - Crac, Maquina, etc), Salvador Font (drums - Crac, Mantequilla, Maquina, etc) and Max Sunyer (guitar - Iceberg, Tapiman. Vertice, etc). Beatles covers in an excellent jazz rock way. The record was quickly dropped afer its release due to publishing rights problems with the Beatles' company, making it a rare record to spot.
